The Urine Test

I received this from my brother-in-law and this is one of the few things I’ve gotten from him that are actually worth sharing with others :-).

I HAVE TO PASS A URINE TEST FOR MY JOB, SO.. Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no
problem.

That with which I do have a problem is the distribution of my taxes to people who don’t have to pass a urine test. Shouldn’t one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT, doing drugs, while I work. . .
Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Pass this along if you agree or simply ignore if you don’t.

Granted there are many out there that really do need to be on public assistance.  Those able bodied ones that fall on hard times rarely stay there longer than they really need to.  It’s the moochers that use the money to buy drugs instead of feed their babies that are the most upsetting.  Locally there have been cases of parents that severly neglect their children.  One that sticks out in my mind is the mother with tree children that lived in a house that had not been cleaned for, probably, years.  Her two older boys though not in the best of health could at least communicate, find food and dress themselves.  Her baby girl, then 5, had never been taught to speak, walk, feed herself, or dress herself.  She lived in a dark room all by herself dressed only in a diaper on a lice and bed bug infested matress.  In the corner of the room was a pile of diapers 4 feet high.  The girl was so deprived of human contact that when the police finally came to the home to remove her she was visibly fearful and winced in pain when the officer picked her up.  Her large dark eyes were empty; her body was covered in bug bites, her hair teamed with lice and her diaper was full to the brim with urine and poop.

The mother’s excuse for the state of her home and her children was that her public assistance wasn’t enough to care for all of them.  She didn’t work and she was not an invalid.  So, my question is – why wasn’t the house at least clean?  Who cares about spic n’ span – just get the feces and the garbage out.  A box of garbage bags isn’t all that expensive.  And what about her children?  Was she so devoid of natural affection and sanity that it seemed alright to her to leave her babies in such a state?  I don’t know if she was on drugs, but how can anyone with an unaltered mental state act in such a way.  It’s just sickening.

Gladly, a kind family took in the little girl and nursed her back to health.  Mentally she will probably never be OK.  Doctors diagnosed her with environmental autism, basically an effect of the lack of human contact and care.

Honestly, the state should have been more proactive in their investigation of this family’s case.  They had been on public assistance for years and many, many people had reported the neglect and horrible conditions of the house.  Unfortunately, things had to go to this extent before anyone would help.
