She Called 9-1-1
Well either my child is a genius or her little fingers were just in the right place at the wrong time. My brother in law’s family was over for a visit and their oldest daughter tagged along while her husband went to work for a few hours. She has a picture of my oldest daughter, Yeyda, on her phone and she showed it to Kiki, the baby. Kiki just started walking so she got up and took the phone and started cooing at it.
Everyone thought this was really cute. My sister in law then decided to call the phone so the “I like to move it” ring would play. This got Kiki dancing and everybody was ooing and ahhing over her. The one problem with this is that the act of receiving a call unlocks the keypad so that you can answer. If the cancel key is not pressed after the call is lost or ended then the phone goes to the recent calls screen allowing still for keystrokes. I had a feeling something was up when after being so cantankerous for the evening she was suddenly quiet and very occupied sitting by herself on the dining room floor with the phone. I believe it was at this time that Kiki was able to somehow dial 9-1-1.
Kiki gave the phone back to her cousin with an “Emergency Call Back” message flashing red across the screen. Moments later she got a call from an unrecognized number. She didn’t answer at first and allowed the call to go to voicemail. Upon checking the message she immediately got up and went to call back the number. Turns out it was the local Sheriff’s department calling because they had received a 9-1-1 dispatch call from her number and they could hear a child. She explained what happened and thankfully no police came out to the house. Yikes!
