Decorating your home or office with indoor plants is a great way to add someone colour and life to the room, but you need to be able to pick the right locations so that the plants will really look their best. Of course, this is going to be different for every room; a small living room with a fireplace if far different from a conference hall. However, you will find that there are some tips and tricks that can be used in most types of rooms so that the plants look their best, really accenting the spaces and making them attractive.

First of all, you do not want the plants to take over the room. You do not want them to be the focal point. Instead, as mentioned above, they should accent the room. You also need them to be out of the way, allowing people to freely move about the room so that the plants do not make it feel smaller than it really is. Try putting them in the corners, where they can brighten up the shadows, or on either side of the door, where they can greet people as they come into the room.

Most plants also need a lot of sunlight, so that is something else that you need to consider when choosing the correct placement. Where will they be able to get light for at least half of the day? Ideally, you want to put them in rooms with a lot of windows, such as sun rooms on the back of your home, rather than in a bedroom. If you cannot find a great location, though, there are specific type of lamps that you can buy that simulate sunlight. This can help the plants grow perfectly even if there are not any windows offering them natural light.

To really keep the plants from taking over the room, you may want to think about hanging them. This is especially nice if you have 10 or 12 foot ceilings. You can hang the pots from chains and hooks on the ceiling, keeping them high enough that people never have to worry about walking into them. By doing this, you can fill the room with all of your favourite plants, but you never run the risk of making it feel like it is too cluttered and full.
