Why I Want To Try Kuru Shoes

logo[1]Until today I had never heard of Kuru Shoes.  My blogger friend at MomBlogSociety.com recently reviewed a pair of Kuru Shoes she wore on a camping trip with her family.  What she said as far as not enjoying camping that much and disliking the restrictiveness and heaviness of hiking shoes rang true for me.   I was drawn into her review more and more curious to learn how Kuru Shoes improved (or not) her experience.

Last year I shared with you my review of a pair of Clark’s shoes that I still love to this day.  Honestly, I need another pair :).  Walking shoes, especially the lace up type, are hard for me to fit because I have wide feet and suffer with foot pain if the laces pull the shoe in just the wrong place.  After reading MomBlogSociety’s review I was hopeful that Kuru may be a good choice to improve fit and reduce foot pain in a lace up shoe.  Winter is coming and I don’t like wearing my boots all the time nor do I like the feeling of snow in my shoes when I wear my Mary Janes outside, brrr.

First Impressions

I visited the Kuru.com website to take a look at their selection.  For a woman’s size 7.5 it is surely limited.  They also do not carry wide width sizes thus the need for me to look for a 1/2 size larger.  This is a problem I have with most brands of shoes and in no way would deter me from at least trying them out.  The majority of their shoes are a combination of leather or suede with mesh.  This is fine for the warmer, dry weather but will not work for me in the Midwest winters or when it’s rainy (which happens a lot around here especially in late winter and early spring).  They did however have one pair that was completely leather, in brown which they tout as a well built utilitarian shoe.  It’s called the Insight.  There was another called the Chicane, but I liked the look of the Insight better.  It reminded me of a pair of shoes I wore on a trip to Spain 10 years ago.  These are a little more, well, blah/old ladyish, but like some have commented on their website do you want style or no pain.  I think I’ll go for no pain (it is nice to look stylish though).  Having a comfortable and well made pair of shoes does a lot to encourage a person to be active, because no one likes to be in pain.

Why I Want To Try Kuru Shoes

I’m a mom of two who tries to be active and in the process of working off years of neglect and baby weight.  When I go shopping for groceries it’s an all day thing and I hate it when my feet and knees start to hurt.  My girls love to go to the park and go for hikes and I don’t really have appropriate shoes for those types of activities.  They are either too ‘fancy’ or too slick on the bottoms or have too thin and unsupportive a sole to allow comfortable walking and hiking for long distances.

Kuru’s midsole technology which they call KuruSole promises to offer better support and to cushion and not flatten your heel pad when you walk.  They also offer cushion in the forefoot to add comfort to every step by cradling your foot. According to their website ->

  • Highly Recommended: An astounding 86% of customers recommend KURU to their friends and family
  • KuruSole™ Technology Works: 88% of customers agree that KURU is Ergonomic for My Feet
  • Customers Love KURU: 82% of customers will buy KURU again
  • More Support: 79% of customers agree that KURU is More Supportive than other shoes
  • Risk-Free: With 100% Free Exchanges and a fair return policy, we remove the risk of trying KURU. Customers love their KURUs, and you will too

The 100% free exchanges are a nice bonus too. So often I’m turned off from even trying to order a shoe online because it will cost me the price of another pair just to return it for exchange if it doesn’t fit.  Another fantastic aspect of the Kuru brand is that they give back to the charity of your choice if you register your purchase with them.

MomBlogSociety is hosting a giveaway for a pair of Kuru Shoes and I really hope to win. But since I’m nice 😉 I’ll share the link with you so you can enter too.
