Majestic Lion Sculpture Made Of 4,000 Pieces Of Hammered Scrap Metal by Selçuk Yılmaz | Bored Panda

This sculpture just shows there is no limit to the human imagination.  When first I saw the images I was awestruck by the detail.  The second thought that popped into my head was OUCH.  I can only imagine what the artist’s hands endured to bring this majestic work of art to life.

According to the article on Bored Panda it this lion is composed of more than 4,000 pieces of hammered metal, weighs 550 lbs. and took 10 months of rigorous work to finish. It’s incredible how working up close and personal with this sculpture, like an impressionist painter, was able to exact so much detail out of this medium with thousands of little strips. The body of the king of beasts is out of carefully shaped and placed larger panels which is impressive in and of itself. The mane and face are a spectacular example of painstaking dedication and attention to the finest detail.
