Protect Yourself From Embarrassing Leaks (Giveaway ends 3/12)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

As an unfortunate consequence of aging, childbirth, health problems and lack of muscle tone sometimes. . . we leak. A sneeze, a cough, our kids jumping on us, exercising, running, laughing too hard or drinking too much when there was no bathroom nearby can put you in a perilous and embarrassing situation. Women aren’t the only ones who suffer in silence. Men are also affected. You can try to do kegel exercises and squats to strengthen your pelvic floor, but what about the meantime? What about when nothing can be done physically or medically to help? Feminine napkins aren’t made to absorb bladder leaks. Not to mention they don’t work for men. There are pads available for that purpose but when it’s a daily proposition it can get really expensive.

WearEver Incontinence undergarments are designed to protect your from embarrassing leaks every day without the need for pads or inserts. I was given the opportunity to try two styles of my choice. I chose the Wearever Women’s Lovely Lace Trim Incontinence Panties and the Wearever Women’s Smooth & Silky Seamless Full-Cut Incontinence Panties. At first sight I thought the lace panties were going to be too big and uncomfortable and the seamless ones would be right on the mark. Don’t judge a book by its cover came into play very quickly.

The seamless panties were too stretchy and way too narrow in the crotch. This made the panties way too uncomfortable to wear. I think I lasted in them about an hour with the waistband around my ribs to make sure the absorption pad stayed in the right place and the fabric didn’t bunch up or the gusset creep down in between my thighs. The shape was just all wrong.

The lace panties were still a little long in the rise, but they were much easier to manage and keep in place. There wasn’t much in the way of description of the absorption-ability of these panties on the website. From the thickness and coverage of the pad I’d say the absorption level is pretty close to maximum. It rather reminded me of wearing a regular extra thick feminine napkin. Given my experience with the seamless panties these were the polar opposite. The crotch portion was on the verge of being too wide to be comfortable. Thankfully though it did not look like I was wearing a diaper through my clothes. Though I hate to admit it I did have a few leakage accidents while wearing these due to unexpected and strong coughing fits while I was sick the first part of this month. Needless to say these panties were a life, pride and clothing saver. Wearever says the Unique-Dry pad contains Agion antimicrobial fibers to reduce the bacteria that cause odor and also a waterproof layer that prevents leaks.  For me the jury is out on the Agion.  Though it did reduce the heavy ammonia smell associated with urine it left behind another odor equally as repulsive akin to the smell of the garden fertilizer and pesticide aisle at your local hardware store.

The Verdict -

If you have a consistent problem with incontinence and require coverage day and night the undergarments from WearEver may be the answer for you.  Personally, I like the idea of being able to remove and throw away the offending liquid and any resulting odors rather than wearing them near me all day.  You may say it’s wasteful, but when you have a nose like a bloodhound and every little offensive smell reaches your nose like a skunk just sprayed living with that on or near you all the time without a bit of respite is almost unbearable.
