#ApothecaryExtracts Tea Tree Oil Review

TeaTreeOil800Since I was a child Tea Tree Oil has been a staple of our medicine cabinet.  We’ve used it on acne, rashes, seborrheic dermatitis and more.  Thanks to Apothecary Extracts from Columbus, Ohio 🙂 I received a complimentary bottle of 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil for review.  First of all, this bottle was the largest bottle of the essential oil I’ve ever had.  Typically the tea tree oil bottles are 1/4 of the size.

The dropper lid allows you to dispense a drop at a time, carefully, or give it a good shake to pour out more if needed.  The oil was strong and had the signature smell of kerosene and menthol.  It’s something I’ve become accustomed to from frequent use.  It was comforting to learn that Red Rover has had tests done on the purity of their product to make sure it is 100% straight, pure and unadulterated oil from the Melaleuca Alternifolia leaves.  Check out these spectral graphs that attest to the oil’s purity https://s3.amazonaws.com/RedRover/Chiral-Analysis.jpg and https://s3.amazonaws.com/RedRover/GCMS.jpg.

In addition to the purity of the product and size of the bottle I appreciated the guidebook provided with purchase.  Inside the “recipe” book of sorts you can find all kinds of concoctions.  Make your own facial toner, body lotion, shampoo, toilet bowl cleaner, organic and natural surface cleaner, diffusing gel air fresheners and many, many more.  With over 50 recipes you are bound to find one or several you never thought of using.

One application that I’ve used it for and continue to use it for is for treating acne.  Sadly, even at 35 I still have breakouts.  In true form the tea tree oil added to my facial toner and moisturizer has helped to ease the pain of swollen blemishes and dry them out quickly.  It is very strong and must be diluted for use on the skin.  It will burn if you put it on directly.  Remember to keep it out of your eyes too.
