Dry, Itchy, "Winter" Skin

As I sit here scratching my arms and the backs of my hands, searching for my tube of hand cream, I dread the cold dry months ahead. ‘Winter’ skin really is a misnomer. Dry skin is a problem year round. The dry heat of a furnace in the winter, biting winds in the fall and spring, the otherwise refreshing water of a swimming pool (and all it’s chemicals) and, alas, the sun all play a part in drying out our skin year round. There isn’t a day that goes by when we shouldn’t think about moisturizing and protecting our skin.

Protecting our skin isn’t just a matter of beauty or even comfort. Our skin, the largest organ in our body, is our first defense to the elements, our “shield”. Making sure it stays supple prevents the skin from cracking and breaking. These little cracks and fissures if left untended can lead to fungal, bacterial and even exposure to viral infection. So moisturizing our shield really is a matter of health.

In our home we have what I like to call our moisturization arsenal. My babies have chronically dry skin. I have to find creams, lotions or oils that are non-irritating. Recently, we have come across another good option to add to our arsenal.

Redex Industries, the makers of Udderly Smooth, was kind enough to send me a package of their most popular Udderly Smooth products for review. Please visit my review blog Casa Guanajuato/The Frogtown House Reviews for more details on our experiences with this product AND a chance to win an Udderly Smooth gift pack.
