How To Give Your Family A Great Vacation On A Budget – Rent A Timeshare – Review & Giveaway

A challenge we all face when we need to get away is how to give your family a great vacation on a budget.  We all need some time off – away from school, work and even home.  This isn’t always easy because in this economy money can be tight and hotels and nice resorts are expensive.  You don’t have to give up on the dream of a nice vacation.  You can always rent a time share.  Yes, I said rent, not buy!

The thought of all of us getting separate accomodations seemed daunting and even trying to get a block of rooms at a hotel for all 20 people was going to be difficult and expensive. Not to mention living out of a hotel room and having to eat out every meal was out of the question for those of us who couldn’t really afford that. My sister-in-law suggested that we rent a timeshare. At first I didn’t think she’d be able to get one large enough for us all but there was a timeshare available in an exclusive lakeside community that had 7 bedrooms, a full working kitchen, full working laundry, three bathrooms, a patio with a grill, two living spaces with big screen TVs, a fireplace and a dining area that was large enough for us all at every meal. It sounded like it would be fun so we all agreed and drove down. We were amazed at how huge the bedrooms were – some even had three double beds. The day after we arrived we all went grocery shopping and made a list of all the things we wanted to make for the week. There were opportunities for hiking and exploring. We were within an hour’s driving distance from Atlanta. We visited the Coca-Cola museum and the Georgia Aquarium. We all had a blast – on a budget.[/dropshadowbox]

I was very excited when given the opportunity to review a timeshare rental and resale site called RedWeek.com.  I am a novice at planning family vacations and getting a great deal is always important to me.  When I received this opportunity I was very excited.  I wanted to know more how RedWeek could help me answer how to give your family a great vacation on a budget by renting a timeshare.
Timeshare owners, brokers and even the properties themselves will post their timeshares on this site.  Every year time share owners the world over are faced with the problem, “Will I be able to use my time share this year? If I can’t what do I do then?” This is where time share rental comes into play.  By putting their time share up for rent direct to consumers like you and me it assures the time share owner they aren’t out their investment for the year AND we get a great deal when we rent a timeshare.

Time Share Rental Vs. Hotel

Why is a time share rental better than just booking a hotel at your desired destination? Time shares typically include enough rooms for everyone in your family or group and then some:

  • A built in functioning kitchen,
  • Cleaning services
  • Depending on location
    • Access to a pool
    • Fitness center
    • Hot tub
    • Other resort amenities –
      included in the timeshare rental!
So instead of being limited to a tiny kitchen (if any), limited bedrooms, one bathroom and no common area for all in your family to gather comfortably together for meals or watching TV at the end of the day in a hotel – why not rent a timeshare.

Looking for Entertainment

If the purpose of your trip is not just to sit by the pool or on the beach and relax but to have loads of fun with the kids and family you can find timeshare resorts near amusement parks.  On RedWeek.com you can choose to search listings by features & attractions:

Features & Attractions

  • All-Inclusive
  • Beaches
  • Casinos
  • Golf
  • Kid Friendly
  • Pet Friendly
  • Theme Parks
For instance, we would like to take our kids to Disney.  We know that the entrance to the park is going to be incredibly expensive for a family of four for two or three days.   We would like to save money somewhere along the line so we don’t blow our budget.  Looking on RedWeek I found quite a list of available timeshares for rent both from brokers and individuals with varying availability dates.  That’s one thing that you have to remember – you have to be flexible with your vacation dates if where you are going is super popular.
I know we are going to drop a pretty penny on airfare, park entrances, dining out and rental cars.  Let’s see what our options are as far as lodging:

Orlando Area Resort found on RedWeek direct from an owner for one week in April:

  • Price: $395 ($56 per night)

Same Orlando Area resort direct from the resorts website for same week in April:

That is a cost savings of $2416.38 by renting a timeshare through RedWeek direct from an owner.  That’s a whole other vacation you can book someplace else!

What I also appreciated about RedWeek.com’s service is that they are built with your best interest in mind. When you look at a timeshare rental listing they give you a list of guidelines to follow for your benefit and protection.  This may take a few more minutes than booking a hotel since you aren’t dealing directly with the property owners, BUT in the end doing the little bit of legwork will save you time, money on lodging and food, and any possible headaches.  Just in case you are wondering there are no middle men and no tours – ever.

Do yourself a favor and go to RedWeek.com and sign up for a guest account.  This will allow you to search their vast array of available properties for timeshare rental or timeshare purchase.
