Potty Cover Review

Casa Guanajuato was chosen to review an interesting product called Potty Cover.  With a straightforward name like that it’s little wonder what it’s for.  This is no flimsy film of tissue paper that easily transfers any unwanted sprinkles or dribbles.  It is special.

PottyCover Disposable Toilet Seat CoverPottyCover composition

When my girls were babies they had bigger “purses” than my own.  Filled with diapers, lotions, wet wipes and diaper changing pads.  I always had a few extra diaper changing pads, some disposable and some not, just in case we had extra big accidents or had to do a change in a less than ideal or not-so-warm place.  When they were finally potty trained at about 2 and a 1/2 years I thought we were home free.  Soon I came to realize the problems just changed venue – from potentially baby poopie and peepee covered changing tables to adult grossness on a toilet.  There has been more than one occasion that my poor girls and even myself have ended up with wetness on the back of our pants.  Not by any fault of our own but because someone hovered and dribbled on the toilet front and we didn’t notice when we went to cover up the toilet.  I’ve gone to the extremes of draping toilet paper over the front of the toilets out in public just to make sure we keep dry.  It’s a waste of paper, a waste of time and a total toilet clogging hazard, but who wants someone else’s nasties on their’s or their children’s legs, hands or clothing!

When PottyCover, Inc. was looking for bloggers to review their product I jumped at the chance.  I received a package of six (6) disposable Potty Covers.   Each is individually wrapped a slim cellophane wrapper which makes them easy to pop into your purse before it’s time to go. The  cover is a soft disposable fabric on one side and impermeable thin plastic layer on the other.  This allows for softness against your skin and prevents any unfortunate splashes or even condensation from the toilet from soaking through and getting on you.

How does this protect your clothing though?  Well, the Potty Cover not only covers the toilet seat and rim like the flimsy covers available in public restrooms.  It also drapes over the sides and well down the front of the toilet keeping your child’s legs and clothing separated from what may be on the front of the toilet bowl.  This extra weight and width allows the potty cover to stay in place without the use of tape. There’s no slipping on or sticking on the toilet seat required. There isn’t another one like it on the market.

We discovered an unintended benefit of using this cover – a seat warmer. Dining out with my family one evening at a local (so-called) Mexican restaurant the girls needed to go to the bathroom. We entered the facilities only to find it felt like an icebox in there and the toilets were frozen. I broke out a cover and placed it on the toilet. Both my girls mentioned it was soft and warm when they were expecting to freeze their butts off :)! So I left it on the toilet and tried it out myself and it did indeed insulate from the cold seat as well as protect! I make sure to have one in my purse at all times.

You can find the Potty Cover at Bed Bath and Beyond or online on eBay, BuyBuy Baby and Amazon for $5.99 plus shipping.  If you have a Bed Bath and Beyond nearby I’d recommend going to check these out.  I’m out in public with the girls about once a week so a package of these will last about a month before I need to get more.  At less than a dollar piece (if you can get it without paying shipping) it is a handy, protective measure to take for your kids’ sake.  It’s really no larger than a feminine napkin and if you have to give one to dad to take into the bathroom the cellophane package can easily be folded in half so they can slip it in their pocket.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
