All-In-One MicroTouch Switchblade Head-To-Toe Groomer Review

Thanks to Idea Village and FuelMyBlog I received a MicroTouch Switchblade for the purposes of review.

The MicroTouch SwitchBlade is a 6 piece set with a double ended, battery powered groomer. It features German steel blades, 2 attachments for each trimmer end (offering 5 levels of grooming) and a cleaning brush. The narrow end is perfect for close trimming on the face and neck and also difficult to reach areas like the ears and nostrils. The small end comes with 2 interchangeable attachments (4mm/2mm & 6mm) for use in grooming the moustache, beard, goatee, and sideburns to the desired length with just one tool. This trimmer turns on with the touch of a button and comes with a handy cover to help keep it clean when you use the other end.

The larger trimmer on the “bottom” of the tool can be used for touch ups between haircuts or if you so choose your own DIY haircut to save you time, money and a trip to the barber. The guides come in two depths so you can customize your cut. Whether you do it yourself or have a little help the trimmer is easy to adjust and use. The on/off mechanism on this end can be considered the “switchblade” since it is the sliding of the shroud that covers the blades up toward the narrow end that turns it on. There is no danger of turning this on on accident since it must click in place before it turns on. This does require some force so you know it is secure. The on/off button for the narrow end will not turn on even if you push it by accident if the shroud for the bottom blade is not clicked into place. This is a very handy failsafe.

As a matter of fact I used the trimmer several times to help my husband clean up his hairline after a haircut using the small trim end. Then a couple weeks later he asked if I could help him trim his sideburns and the sides of his hair since they were starting to grow out and stick out in a funny way. The MicroTouch SwitchBlade made this work a breeze. I used the small attachment for the wide trimmer to clean up the sides of his hair, the wide trimmer by itself to clean up around his hair line in the back, and the small trimmer to make sure his sideburns were the same length on both sides of his face. It only took a few minutes. If you are alone and need to do the same procedure all you need is an extra mirror so you can see the back of your head and neck – no need to run to the barber for a simple trim.  Another thing I liked about the MicroTouch SwitchBlade is that the blades were not sharp like a razor to the touch.

In this day and age of rough economic times we all need to take shortcuts to save money. For less than the cost of an average haircut you can have this tool that not only makes at home haircuts for men possible and easy, but you can use it to groom your face, chest, arms, legs, feet, ears and nose! Talk about value for your money.

From the manufacturer:
From MicroTouch, maker of the leading men’s personal micro-groomer, comes the new SwitchBlade. No ordinary groomer, the SwitchBlade is the world’s first all-in-one, head-to-toe, groomer that lets you remove hair anywhere with just one tool.
Designed to “switch” from micro-groomer to full size trimmer with a cock of the head cover, the unit affords the ultimate man-scaping experience. With German steel blades and 4 comb attachments offering 5 levels of trimming, the closeness of the trim is entirely in your hands. SwitchBlade’s micro-trimmer is as efficient as it’s predecessor, MicroTouch MAX – for ears, nose, neck, eyebrows, and sideburns – while the new full size trimmer allows “between barbershop” hair trims in addition to full body grooming.
MicroTouch SwitchBlade affords the easy, clean and close hair removal expected from more expensive groomers, and at $19.99 the SwitchBlade can’t be beat. Requires 2 AAA Batteries.
