wpid-collage_20140718121428029_20140718121526234.jpgIf you’ve been around my blog at all you know that losing weight is a big issue for me.  In the last year I’ve lost 20 lbs. only to gain it all back because of depression and stress.  As usual I’m tired of my excess weight and my joints and muscles are telling me they are too.  When I was doing the Revolt Now Fitness workouts regularly I did take a supplement of raspberry ketones to help encourage my body to burn fat.  They were not the only reason I was losing weight, but they did help my body melt of some much needed poundage. I noticed that when I stopped taking them it got a lot harder and more discouraging to try and lose weight.  I couldn’t find the brand I had taken before and eventually fell off the weight loss wagon.

Summit Nutritions and Tomoson have given me a chance to try out the Pure Rasperry Ketones 500mg capsules for weight loss.  I had never taken them in that amount before so I thought I’d give them a try.  The little red capsule is taken 30 minutes before a meal twice daily for a total of 1000mg per day.  One minor side effect I noticed was thirst.  Nothing that couldn’t be remedied with some extra water which is also key for encouraging weight loss.  The supplement did do a great job of curbing my cravings.  I certainly did notice a resurgence of the cravings for carbs in particular when I would forget to take the pill.

What are Raspberry Ketones and How Do They Work?

I had to do a little research and found a Dr. Oz article and video that I think you will like.  Raspberry ketones are the primary component that give the raspberry their aroma.  It acts to regulate the hormone adiponectin.  The way Dr. Oz described this hormone is that it’s one that makes our bodies act like they are skinny.  We want this hormone.  Raspberry ketones encourage the production of this hormone which helps to break down fat in the cells and regulates our metabolism.  It was noted also that just eating raspberries won’t have the same effect.  To get the same effect of just 100 mg of raspberry ketones you’d have to eat 90 pounds of raspberries which in the end would negate the ketones effects from the consumption of all the calories and sugar that accompany them.

This is by no means a “miracle pill”.  You can’t really expect to take it and watch the pounds fly off over night without any extra effort.  I would consider this as a weight loss support supplement.  Paired with a healthy diet and regular exercise you will see better results.  You could see results in as little as five days but the real measurable results come with longer term use.  Taking the supplement on a regular basis will help you overcome weight loss plateaus and avoid the “falling off the wagon” like I did.

I haven’t seen any weight loss, yet.  But I also haven’t been very diligent about working out lately either.  I’m going to keep trying and keep taking my raspberry ketones with a healthy diet.  Hopefully, I’ll see some results soon.
