Michael Todd Organics #Soniclear Antimicrobial Sonic Skin Cleansing Brush Review

Thanks to Michael Todd Organics I received a complimentary Soniclear antimicrobial sonic skin cleansing brush for the purposes of review. I can’t believe my review time is up already! It’s rare that I enjoy a product so much that I lose track of time. This review was one of those rare instances. It was my pleasure that the review for the Soniclear brush coincided with a review of an acne treatment system. The sonic cleansing brush assisted in increasing the exfoliation potential of the cleansers and continually helped to bring blockages out of the pores to the surface so they could be removed.

The most significant cleansing I experienced was the first one. I used the brush to cleanse my face with the anti-acne exfoliating wash and was more easily able to see comedones and dry skin that had been blocking my pores. While my face was still damp I used my exfoliating tool to remove these blockages which the Soniclear had uncovered. It’s been a matter of maintenance since then as I have not had build up like that on my face since using the sonic cleansing brush once or twice daily.

How Does It Work

First of all, out of the package you will receive –

1 Soniclear Device
1 Facial Brush Head with Cover
1 Body Brush Head with Cover
1 Charging Stand
1 Charging Cord

The Soniclear device fits nicely in your hand, is waterproof and has comfortable non-slip grips for your hands.  On the front, the brush side, there are two buttons.  The bottom button turns the unit on and off.  The top button selects the speed of the ultrasonic vibration of the bristles.  When the device is powered on it will start with the last used speed setting.  Notice there are 2 brush types? The unit recognizes the brush type installed and adjusts the sonic intensity and duration of the cleansing session based on the brush.  Yes, the brush is TIMED for your convenience and protection from irritation.  The facial brush runs a 2 minute cycle with 20 second cleansing intervals allowing you to cleanse your face and neck in 6 sections giving each the attention it deserves without being too rough.  The body brush allows for another varied protocol of cleansing with three settings of it’s own.  This brush is wider and a little more stiff to be able to handle the thicker skin of the rest of the body.  The Body Brush runs a 3 minute cycle with 60 second intervals after which time the unit automatically shuts off.  The Soniclear antibacterial/antimicrobial cleansing brush is ONLY to be used on wet skin.  Using it on dry skin may lead to irritation and injury.

The covers are very nice because they are vented and allow for the brush to dry without crushing the bristles.  This is particularly important for storing the brush since even laying the device on it’s side may allow the bristles to be bent.  Another important and impressive feature of the Soniclear brush system is the charging dock.  Immediately, upon unpacking the device it should be put on the charging station overnight.  I’ve had this brush for over a month and have used it at least once a day since it’s first charge.  It has not needed another charge nor shown a loss of power since then.  That is an amazingly long charge and very convenient.  The charging stand is not waterproof so you must use caution when using it.  After charging I simply wound up the cord and returned it to the cabinet until I needed it again.  This keeps it safe from splashes which inevitably occur in our bathroom.

Sonic-Wave Cleansing vs. Rotating/Oscillating Brushes

The sonic wave technology massages the dirt, oil and impurities from your skin.  You control the direction of the brush. With a rotating brush the motion tugs and pulls at the skin causing redness or irritation.  I’ve read this in reviews all over the internet.  People trying to find an inexpensive option to the sonic brush only to find they caused themselves more irritation than helping their cleansing routine.

The Icing on the Cake

On top of all this the brush itself is antimicrobial.  The brush head, bristles and brush cap are treated with LIFE antimicrobial technology which render microbes unable to take up nutrients or reproduce.  The antibacterial treatment is built in so it won’t wash off.  This leads to a cleaner cleansing tool and healthier skin for you.  This is the only sonic wave cleansing brush which employs an antimicrobial treatment.  It’s also 30% less expensive and had more varied cleansing options than the leading sonic brush.

More than once I’ve forgotten the brush in the shower in a puddle of water.  There has been no hint of mold or mustiness suggesting the presence of bacterial growth.  To be safe I try to make a habit of removing the brush and drying the device and brush as best I can before I cap it and put in the a dry place to finish drying.  Before using it again I always wash it with soap and warm water for good measure because though the brush inhibits microbial growth it does not prevent it.  This is even the suggested course of action by the manufacturer.  Think of the antimicrobial benefit like an airbag.  Just because it’s there doesn’t mean you will drive like a maniac and not wear your seat belt.  The airbag improves your chances of not being injured while using your vehicle in a safe manner. Thus the LIFE technology makes it less likely that you will ever get irritated by mold or bacterial growth as long as you take care of the brush in a proper manner.

You can purchase the Soniclear brush on Michael Todd Organics website or Amazon for $150.  Right now the Soniclear Antimicrobial Sonic Skin Cleansing Brush basic package, which I tested, is available to my readers for 20% off (only through Michael Todd Organics – click the link for the automatic price reduction).  Also, you can purchase extra brush heads, an extension handle, spare charger and dock and a solid case for the Soniclear on their website (all on sale right now, too).

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
