My kids and my husband LOVE ice pops.  Their favorites are made with fresh fruits, real juices and even ones that have little chunks of fruit in them.  I really dislike keeping ice pop sets around because they take up so much room in my freezer which is usually packed to the hilt.  Thanks to Foodworks I received a set of colored silicone reusable ice pop makers for the purposes of review.

IcePopCollageLemonade is my family’s favorite drink.  I found a Blueberry Lemonade which would be great for making ice pops.  Each silicone ice pop maker is tapered and comes with a water tight press in lid.  To make sure each ice pop is filled to capacity and won’t over expand when frozen only fill it to 1″ to 3/4″ from the top (about the depth of the lid).  I was worried about spilling when replacing the lids, but it was much easier than expected.  Since the lids are leak resistant you can either stand the filled pop makers on their lid, lie them on their side and pretty much slide them any where in the freezer you have room for them.  For me this is a lot more convenient than an ice tray style with the sticks floating in the middle.  I never have the shelf space or enough head room for them in the freezer.

I wondered how easy it was going to be to remove the lid and squeeze the ice pop out.  Either run the mold under warm water OR with the warmth of your hands loosen the cap and side of the silicone enough from the ice pop so that you can pull the cap out and then give the tube a twist to release the pop.  My kids had a little trouble with the pop sliding back into the tube as it got smaller, but my husband said he really liked them and had no problem with usage.  I was going to try saving any leftovers using the lids as they’re intended, but we didn’t have any, lol.  It’s cool they are easy to wash and dishwasher safe, too.
