eBook Review: The List – Shout Out Your Dreams

Life is short. You only live once. Make sure you have no regrets. Live like there’s no tomorrow. Never give up.

These are all common motivational sayings we have heard numerous times in our lives. Yet, how many people actually live by those tenets. How many people really take them to heart and believe that they have the ability to make their dreams come true.

I must be honest – I tend to live from day to day. When I was younger I used to mare all kinds of lists and had ideas galore. Unfortunately, I allowed myself to be influenced by the negativity and lack of faith of others.

I received a complimentary copy of the book The List. This was an inspirational story of a man who faced possible life long paralysis. He faced seemingly insurmountable odds and came out ahead – spectacularly.

My husband and I have discussed on several occasions how people with difficult upbringings or have overcome adversities are more driven. The only thing we can come up with is that they know what there is to lose. The rest of us are too timid to strive because we are meekly holding on to what we have. In the book the author uses the word “audacity” liberally. As I read I began to understand his point of view. There is no room in this short life for fear or timidity. Self-doubt gets you no where and nothing.

All of the insights shared in this book stemmed from a tragic accident and 18 months of recovery in which he spent his whole time making lists. His experiences moved him to share his life story and how he has been able to inspire others while making his own dreams come true. Like I said the idea which struck me the most was that of being audacious. We have to push beyond our preconceived notions and the walls other people’s opinions have built around us to hem us in.

Be bold. DREAM BIG. Write it down.

I received a complimentary item for the purposes of review. No other form of compensation was received.
