For years my husband would carry a multi tool. It was handy and helped us in emergency situations, but it was very bulky. After a while he would stop carrying it because it became too busy on his side. I knew he missed carrying a pocket knife.
When Gerber sent me the Bear Grylls Compact Scout Survival knife I knew this knife would be one he would carry daily. The case was light weight and slim. One of my favorite parts of this package was the portable survival guide that accompanied the knife. There was a TON of information included on this flyer of paper. It is small enough to carry in my wallet.
My first impressions start with the packaging. I almost cut myself trying to get the plastic open. When I tried to use the knife for the first time it didn’t seem to be as sharp as I’d expected. My husband said the same. One of his frustrations was that you can not open the knife with one hand. The lock back function is very nice.
My husband’s only complaint is it’s lack of sharpness. He carries the knife with him every day. He uses it at work to open packages. Hopefully he’ll never have an emergency need for it but at least he has it available if the need ever does arise.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
