Cascade Platinum – Keep Your Dishes and Dishwasher Sparkling #sponsored

Thanks to Cascade and Mom Central for providing samples to facilitate this review.

CascadePlatPacsA few weeks ago I received a packet of Cascade Platinum Dishwasher Pacs from Mom Central to try. Since I am a loyal Cascade user I was intrigued to see what these new dishwasher pacs could do. Like many of you I’ve seen the commercial with the feuding sisters arguing over how perfectly clean everything – including the inside of the dishwasher – seemed to be. Since we use cistern water for our washing I’m always worried about spots or sediment that may get past the filters and end up on my dishes.

Cascade Platinum says it will –

• Delivers Cascade’s ultimate clean for dishes
• Scrubs away tough 24 hour stuck-on food
• Eliminates the need to pre-wash dishes
• Provides exceptional dishware shine
• Contains the Grease Fighting Power of Dawn

With a well stacked dishwasher – meaning plenty of room for water and detergent to get in between and scrub – the Cascade Platinum Dishwasher Cleaner Pacs will do a very good job. This is no surprise for me since I prefer Cascade over other brands of liquid, pac or combo cleaners.

How It Worked For Me

cascadeplatinumpac

The first three times I used the Cascade Platinum Pacs I noticed an egg smell in my dishwasher after the finish of the wash cycle. I had not put any dishes in the dishwasher that had egg on them nor had we put new water in the cistern or gotten any rain recently so it had to be something from the pacs mixing with whatever was already in the dishwasher. Possibly whatever was still caught in the drain mixed with the enzymes in the pacs was making it smell funny, but for sure I didn’t like that. The only other time I’d noticed this kind of smell in my dishwasher was after switching to a cheaper off brand of dishwasher pacs and we soon switched back. After the first week of use the egg smell went away.

As far as my dishes went they did not seem much cleaner compared to using Cascade Complete pacs. My dishwasher though did seem to have less gunk on the inside compared to before, not that there was that much to begin with. There was a time or two that spoons came out of the dishwasher with oatmeal still glued to them and one time a bowl still had oatmeal on it. Sadly, Cascade Platinum did not work 100% in that area. One food I did not have a chance to try it on was avocado. I wish I had though, because I have yet to find a dishwasher detergent which will successfully clean avocado from any plate or utensil. When it comes to the dishwasher, avocado is it’s white whale.
