Kid Safe Nail Polish: Fun or Flop
Thanks to Tomoson I received a complimentary item for the purposes of review.
As a mom of two girls I’ve learned how important and fun it is for them to imitate mommy. They have play makeup, dress up clothes, old high heels, and they love having their manicures and pedicures just like mom. The chemicals in traditional nail polish are detrimental to adults so you can only imagine the effect of starting to use them at an early age. Then there’s the problem of removal.
When I received the kid-safe peel off nail polish from Bo-Po I was thrilled. The thought of allowing my girls to have a cute and fun manicure that’s also non toxic was incredible. The promise of not having to use nail polish remover made me so happy.
As soon as we got the Cloudy Day blue and Sweet Dreams green glitter Tint we popped their spill proof bottles right away. We noticed immediately that the blue polish was chunky and didn’t go on very smoothly. It did though dry very quickly. It looked a little weird though. The green glitter tint was much more smooth and easy to apply.
We thought we would be able to share this new kid safe product with the kids in their swimming class. Within 10 minutes one of the girls had to go to the bathroom. We soon learned that this nail polish was not all it was cracked up to be. The liquid, even after it’s set, is water soluble. That wasn’t the worst of it. We almost ruined one of our bathroom hand towels and wound up with a sticky mess on our nails and fingers. Truly I believe this is intended to be applied, allowed to dry and immediately peeled off.
The fact that the polish would not last through a hand washing was very disappointing. Just imagine tops an hour and your fun is done. You can’t have a snack, go to the bathroom, or was your hands without ruining the mani. What a waste of time.
If the short life of the product is acceptable to you you can collect all 10 colors on Bo-po.com.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
