[dropshadowbox align=”center” effect=”lifted-both” width=”100%” height=”” background_color=”#72f8b3″ border_width=”1″ border_color=”#dddddd” ]Thank to Tomoson and UGLee Pen I received a complimentary set of UGLee Pens for review.[/dropshadowbox]
The UGLee pen shown above is exactly like the ones I received in the mail. They are not the most attractive writing utensil in the world. Looks aren’t everything though. If we are going to “judge a book by it’s cover” then let’s do it the “write” way – by how it feels in our hand. When I first received the pens I was surprised by how lightweight they were. The medium line ink ball point is very smooth to write with although I did have frequent troubles with it drying out (what ball point pen doesn’t though?). I wrote the following the first time I used the pen:
[dropshadowbox align=”none” effect=”lifted-both” width=”97%” height=”” background_color=”#ffffff” border_width=”1″ border_color=”#dddddd” ]Today I received 3 Uglee Pens in the mail via Tomoson. Actually the Uglee Pen is what I am using to write this. The ink is smooth though wider than the line I’m used to using. The cushion made of gel that feels like the sticky, bouncy toys I use to get out of vending machines when I was a kid extends 3/4 of the way up the pen. This makes the pen feel soft and padded so it doesn’t aggravate the callus on my middle finger. I think though that the cover extends too far up the pen. It creates an obstabcle for me to hold the pen comfortably. It feels like the gell sticks to the skin between my thumb and forefinger and doesn’t allow it to rest properly in my hand. Either someone with larger or even smaller hands would fit the pen better. My hands seem to be just the wrong size.[/dropshadowbox]
Since then my opinion has changed a bit. I’ve used the pen to write grocery lists, blogging ideas, letters, notes, and lists. I’ve even used it to take notes on a YouTube video I watched to take down the specs of the new Samsung Galaxy S4 for a blog post I wanted to write and used it for a whole day at a religious conference. After I got used to the pen it was very comfortable to use so it could have been that I was not holding the pen properly and that is why I was having troubles at first.
Pros –
- Lightweight & Ergonomic
- Easy to grip
- Comfortable to write with
- Super smooth ink
- Won’t roll off your desk
Cons –
- Grip material is a dust magnet
- Everyone will want to steal your pen
- For me the drawing line width was too wide
