When I get up in the morning there is nothing I appreciate more than having my feet hit warm carpet as opposed to cold hard floors. My only problem with having carpet in house at all is keeping it clean. I vacuum regularly to keep the floor free of dust, dirt and mites. There are still traffic stains and unfortunately food stains here and there. Having kids around carpet is rarely ever going to turn out well, especially if it is a light colored carpet because you know they are eventually going to track, drop or spill something on it.
The time for spring cleaning is here and your carpets are crying out for some help. So what are you to do? You can’t pull it all up and throw it in the washing machine though there are days I wish I could. I’ve tried soap and water but the pile of the carpet gets pulled too much, the soap is hard to get out and it takes way too long to dry. Then of course there is the potential for the dreaded water stain and nasty mold if you can’t sop up enough of the water. No one wants nasty moldy mustiness in their home. I’ve also tried the carpet sprays and moist powder applications. The carpet cleaning sprays have never worked that well for me. They smell very strong and take way too long to dry. It’s not something I would recommend when you can’t open the windows. The moist powder applications are okay for smaller areas. If you have an entire room to do you may want to plan several days to get it done as they suggest only to do an area no bigger than 2 ft. x 5 ft. at any given time. Who has that kind of time, patience or money to throw around? Then there is the mechanical rug cleaners you can rent at your local grocery store. I used to be able to anyway. The machines were rarely ever clean, the chemicals are strong and it was just a bulky awful mess.

If you are careful and do your research you will be surprised at what you find. You can find a service in your area which provides same day cleaning service for not only your carpets, but also your upholstered furniture.
Having clean carpets gives you peace of mind. Not only will the carpet be dust free, but stain and smell free as well. This is especially beneficial when you’ve had a disaster such as a flood, fire or broken pipe.
