If you look inside my refrigerator right now you would probably be appalled. . . just like me. With so many different size containers and little bags of leftovers here and there (not to mention the broken shelves and drawers that had to be taken out) I’m always losing something in the mess. Just the other day after sadly throwing out an almost sackful of baggies of forgotten produce and leftovers I received an email telling me about a new project on KickStarter for Zip N’Store.
The Zip N’Store is like a closetmaid for your refrigerator changing once tossed bags into easy to access hanging storage inside the fridge. The Organizer System comes with a Fridge Shelf Cold and Store sliding shelf unit which holds zip closure storage bags in a hanging fashion suspended from a refrigerator shelf and the whole unit slides out for easy access. No more forgotten bags. The also include a Chop N Fill for quart and gallon size bags. These are flexible cutting boards which can flex to fit into the opening of these size bags. A Chop N Fill stand which holds the baggies mouths open, hands-free, for super simple filling.
Now this isn’t just for refrigerators – it’s for dry storage and freezers too. My favorite Zip N’Store items are from the Garden Set. This set has tools to fill the bags and a freezer tray which holds them flat. The idea is that when you use a gallon bag to store, say, a couple pounds of ground beef, you won’t always want to defrost it all at once to make a meal. Trying to chop off a pound or even a half pound is incredibly difficult when the chunk is frozen solid. Pressing the filled gallon bag into the Freeze N Serve tray automatically splits the contents of the baggie into manageable chunks which take less effort to remove and less time to defrost. Also, the included Freeze N Store helps to store baggies of fresh or leftover foods in the freezer in an easy to stack format. So, once frozen they can be removed from the Freeze N’Store box and stacked in an orderly fashion – maximizing freezer space and storage capacity. This is great for harvest season.
You need to see the video though to get the best idea of how this system works. Honestly, this is one on the coolest storage organization systems for the kitchen I’ve seen in a while.
