My mom and dad took a ton of pictures when my brother and I were kids. My dad loved his 35mm camera. Even though he was very penny conscious making sure he always had high quality film and took the time to get it developed and printed was never an issue. My mother has always been very organized and made sure each trip and each individual had their own album of pictures. They have almost an entire bookcase filled with memories. My mother reminds me every time we come over that my girls love to run straight to that book case and can entertain themselves for hours leafing through the pictures. It is pretty neat to see them enjoy viewing images captured decades before they were born. All because my parents took the time to capture and preserve the pictures they took and were given by family and friends.
Digital photography is a wonderful advent that allows much more room for mistakes. For many, myself included, it leads to laziness when thinking about printing out our captured memories. Sharing via social media and email is OK, but there is something to be said about holding the pictures in your hands.
I’ll certainly be taking advantage of this sale. My husband and my mother both keep begging me to print out more of our daughter’s pictures. Plus, after our first ever family vacation road trip this summer we have loads of wonderful pictures to preserve and share. There is something so much more meaningful about leafing through an album that someone has taken the time to put together for your family’s enjoyment. It maintains the nostalgia and beauty of the original event.
