Answer (1 of 6): Saw your question. I’m the CEO of CloudFlare so I thought I’d jump in.

CloudFlare is designed to accelerate and secure any website.

Lucero De La Tierra‘s insight:

Wow! Do I love the Internet!  Don’t know exactly how something works? Google it!  This question on Quora has an answer directly from the CEO of CloudFlare and a fairly complete explanation of the basic function of CloudFlare.  My first thought on this is how simply and cleanly the system caches content, even on free accounts, to serve your readers faster.  Secondly, I appreciate how having CloudFlare as the authoritative DNS for your domain essentially masks your servers IP from potential hackers AND they have built in metrics to detect potential threats!  How cool is that?

Since my five blogs are in a network installation and even a free CloudFlare account allows multiple domains it was easy to set up.  If I set up an app on CloudFlare for my main website since the DNS A-name records show my subdomains as aliases they are automatically applied to all the blogs with the press of a button.  I’ll be watching closely over the next month to see how this affects my traffic, spam and site security.
