Thanks to Mia Mariu and Tomoson I was given the opportunity to review the Mia Mariu Rejuvenation Kit.
Before 6 months ago I’d never even heard about Mia Mariu. I found a review of some cosmetics from the company on a blog I frequent. From what I understand their business model is similar to companies like Avon and Mary Kay, but with more of a focus on natural ingredients. You can purchase direct from the mMia Mariu website or from a Mia Consultant.
For the purposes of this review I was provided with the Mia Mariu Rejuvenation Kit. I received full size samples of the Anti-Aging Eye Cream, Anti-Aging Brightening Serum and Refreshing Foaming Gel Cleanser and a single use packet of the RestauraCel -C Thermal Microdermabrasion Refinisher Cream and Thermal Activator and the Hydrating Anti-Aging Moisturizer with SPF 30+. I’ve used the full-size items twice a day, morning and night, since the day I received them.
What You Need To Know About Me
Before I continue you need to know a few things about my stage in life and the condition of my skin. Every person is different and your experiences may differ greatly from what I’m about to share.
I’m in my early 30s and still being in my child-bearing years with all things “in tact” I still deal with monthly hormonal shifts. Though I am starting to show signs of aging with fine lines around my eyes and some furrowing and thickening of the brow, my face is still plagued with acne. This is especially true around my cycle; I never know whether I’m going to break out before, during or after – each month it’s different :(. Aside from the hormonal acne breakouts I’ve never considered my skin to be overly sensitive. There are few things I’ve used that have caused enough irritation to make me stop using them.
Why I Wanted to Try These Products
Like I mentioned before I have some issues with fine lines around my eyes, thickening of skin on my forehead and because of the acne breakouts I also have some enlarged pores and scarring. Lately, my breakouts have concentrated themselves on my jawline and have left some pretty ugly, dark scars behind. Also, I have some freckling across my face and an old acne scar turned sun spot which seems to be getting bigger. I sincerely hoped the Brightening Serum would help to diminish the look of this mark. Plus, since I have problems with acne and enlarged pores anti-aging products that are oil-free and non-irritating are attractive to me.
What Happened With the Mia Mariu Rejuvenation Kit
Typically, I use a washcloth whenever I clean my face. This is mainly because of the mild exfoliation it provides. I quickly learned NOT to do this with the Foaming Gel Cleanser. One evening after using a washcloth and the gel cleanser on my face to remove the makeup from the day my face started turning red and burning slightly. I didn’t scrub overly rough so I guessed it was the cleanser. Deciding not to give up yet the next morning I tried again – this time without a washcloth and everything was just fine. The cleanser does a fine job of removing makeup and has a fresh scent that reminds me of the beach. It foams up very nicely with a dense lather. I wish though that it had some exfoliating properties.
After each wash, I would apply the Brightening Serum to my whole face and neck. I paid particular attention to the sun spot on my right cheek. Then I would apply the Eye Cream to the fine lines and delicate skin around my eyes. After a week of use I noticed that in the area where the two creams overlapped I started breaking out in little hard bumps right over the apples of my cheeks. I continued to use it for a few more days just in case this was a fluke until they became so irritated that I had to stop using the Eye Cream. Once I stopped using the Eye Cream the bumps went away. That was a big bummer because something for my fine lines was really what I have been looking for.
I’m going to continue using the Brightening Serum. Although it did not do much for the mark on my cheek in these few weeks I did notice that the acne scars on my jaw were almost gone. That’s a huge plus for me because they were ugly and difficult to cover.
I really wish I had had more of the Refinishing Cream & Activator and the Hydrating Anti-Aging Cream. The Refinishing combination left my skin feeling soft and fresh. The Hydrating Cream was very light even though it was intended for anti-aging and had SPF. So often anything with SPF is thick, has an awful smell and is more oily than normal. This Hydrating Cream was not. If I’d had enough I would have used it every day over the Brightening Serum since the serum does not have any sun protection factor added and thus would not be advisable to go out in the sun without an additional layer of protection.
As I mentioned, every person is different. For me I experienced some irritation though the cleansers and creams are marked as non-irritating. I wish I’d had exfoliant in the daily cleanser and an eye cream that didn’t make me break out.

I hate to say this, but, I’m cheap. I wish I could say frugal, but someone frugal can see the value is spending a little more for something that works instead of looking for something low cost that ends up not working well. This is a mindset that I am trying very hard to adopt. It is just difficult at times to try new things that are out of my comfort zone price wise. The fear is that you pay for what you perceive will work only to end up with something that irritates you and doesn’t work as planned. I must say many thanks to Mia Mariu for allowing this cheapskate to try these products in exchange for a review. I’m saving my pennies to buy the Microdermabrasion set and the Hydrating Moisturizer because I know my hubby will have a conniption fit if I ask him to buy it for me.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
