It has just been in this past year that I’ve started using facial masks on a regular basis. Sadly, time is already catching up with me. Now firmly in my mid 30s you can clearly see fine lines, enlarged pores, dryness and the beginning of wrinkles. On top of that the acne I thought I’d left behind in my teens and early 20s is coming back with a vengeance.
Things like a “spa day” were never before part of my vocabulary. Now as a mom of two girls I’m always looking for excuses to style hair, do nails and other “girly” things that will set a pattern of personal care for my daughters in the future. Thanks to Tomoson and Pure & Essential Minerals I received a full size sample of the Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask for the purposes of review. As soon as we got it we popped it open and tried it out.
First of all the texture is like that of a thick pudding. It goes very easily over the skin. Second, be ready to have your nasal passages cleared as well as your pores, lol. The menthol is very strong in the formulation and does give an icy hot sensation where it’s applied. It kind of burned my eyes a bit, but once I it started to dry it wasn’t so bad. You can feel it opening your pores. It stings a little, but not in a chemical-leave-your-face-red-and-irritated kind of way. The mask takes about 10 minutes to dry. Be ready to rinse the mask as soon as it’s dry with warm water. Otherwise it will start to flake off and leave dark grey dust all over the place and you. This is especially so if you try to talk while wearing the mask. My face felt so refreshed, soft and super clean after rinsing.
I tried this with my girls the first time. They both had had a reaction to a baby sunblock on their faces. I was hoping this would help reduce the rash and redness. To my surprise and delight the organic dead sea mud mask did just that. They enjoyed it so much they asked every day until I agreed to apply it to them again. It makes me happy to find a product gentle enough for my daughters’ delicate skin and still strong enough to take care of mine.
