Your Blogging Persona

Today’s Nablopomo prompt was – Does blogging bring out the best or worst in you?

Though I do share certain things about my life blogging for me is not intended to be a public diary.  I have never kept a diary or personal journal. Anything written down can be used against you.  That may seem like paranoid thinking but how many of you have had your mom or sister or even best friend read your diary and make your life miserable for what they found inside. Blogging for me is a way to reflect on things that make me happy and make me feel productive.   The creative juices that failed me in the art department are making their way onto the lines of this blog.  There is a sense of satisfaction in describing eloquently how you feel about your favorite hobby, activism, belief, or product.   I’m not here to create controversy.   I’m here to share and inform and listen. Yes, I read all your comments.  They are much appreciated. I guess for me blogging brings out the best in me and reminds me of the good things I have in life. If you blog, how does it affect you? Are you Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde online?

I think I would have to say it brings a little of both out in me. While my blog is hardly all sunshine and roses, I do try to stay away from full-on negativity/sarcasm/complaining as I figure people get enough of that in real life and don’t want to read about it as well. But, since creativity and writing do not come naturally to me, my family often suffer from my stress of creating content constantly and often with deadlines.

I don’t really have any negativity ever on my blog, mostly cooking and health stuff. I started a blog in 2005 that was more personal but took it off line.

I started out personal way back when, but did the same as you and took the content offline. They say what you put online lives forever, but no one was reading my blog at the time so I really doubt any of it is still out there.

I’m pretty neural about it. My kids are big at posing for the camera because of my blog, but other than that I like to combine a little bit of myself into my blog.

Great post! I prefer to keep my blog more business related, yet still add honest personal touches and family experiences. I like to hope that my blogging persona is a great mix!

I’ve had my blog for almost 6 years and I refrain from writing negativity. I’m an optimist and see the glass half full kind of person, though. I’ve done a hand full of personal opinion posts in all the 6 years I’ve blogged. I do personal posts, just refrain from anything (too) negative. 🙂

My blog is neutral — funny family stories and food. That’s it! But, I’m also a very, very, VERY private person and tend to not be on that starts drama. My Facebook also stays very light.

I try to keep my blog professional like an online magazine or column. That’s how I consider it. I give my personality and perspective and I keep it a drama free zone. Much like I do my life.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone on a rant only to mark it personal or delete the post.

My blog is more of a promotional set up, that being said, I’d really like to take the time to share more personal things on it, but so far I’ve been so busy with the sponsored things that it seems that I never get to it!

That’s one reason I started doing the Nablopomo prompt articles. They are great for inspiration. Also I follow a blog that offers daily prompts. Can’t think of it right now, but the link is at the end of my newest article.

I don’t share a lot of personal things on my site so it definitely doesn’t bring out the bad side of me or anything. I’m very much myself on my blog- everything I write is what I would say in person.

I won’t share anything on my blog that I don’t want my mother in law to read (because she sometimes does!) Same goes for my Facebook. I try to keep my online personality clean.

I would say it brings out the best of me. The worst it brings out is a lack of sleep!

I’m not much of a diary type of person either. I like to keep things positive and upbeat on my blog because that is the way I like to live my life.

I’m pretty open about my life but I don’t really discuss controversial things. In general, I try to keep a positive tone to both my posts and to any comments I leave on other blogs.

    Hi Lucero,

I like sharing some but keeping things super positive, because you can’t take back what you post. I’ve gotten in hot water for saying positive things to some negative fam members, so those deals, don’t concern me. Part of the resistance thing.

Neat blog. Thanks for sharing 😉
