InstaNatural Vitamin C/E/Hyaluronic+Ferulic Acid & Aloe Serum, Rosehip Oil & Argan Oil Review #ad

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

When I was younger I used to watch my mother primp, preen and fuss over her appearance all the time and it perplexed me.   I like to look good with my makeup and hair done right and my clothes just so, but I never thought I would be vain about getting older.  Now with 35 just days away I am definitely more aware of the thickening of my skin, reappearing acne, enlarged pores, sun spots and fine lines that have appeared.  I’ve always had problem skin.  The only times I can remember experiencing smooth blemish free skin was during my pregnancies.  Being pregnant forever isn’t really an option to maintain clear skin so I’m always looking for a more attainable solution.

Reading reviews online I’d heard about the positive effects of Vitamin C serum on the skin.  I remember my mother telling me to use lemon juice on my skin to help reduce breakouts.  The issue here was it tightened my skin so much that instead of discouraging oil production it made it worse because my skin got too dry.  At the time I didn’t know that adding a moisturizer after the lemon treatment could have prevented that.  You live, you learn.

InstaNatural offered me to pick up a combo pack of Vitamin C serum, Rosehip Oil and Argan Oil for the purposes of review.  The blue glass bottles with droppers came individually wrapped in bubble wrap then all three wrapped together in the box with more bubble wrap.  Breaking those would have been extremely difficult in transit which is great! The oils are USDA certified organic and the Vitamin C/Ferulic Acid/Hyaluronic Acid & Organic Aloe is 72% organic and 98% naturally derived. Perfect information for anyone trying to use fewer chemicals in their beauty routine.

First, I examined the consistency and fragrance of each.  None of them had artificial scents added.  The Vitamin C Serum is in a water and glycerin base but not at all thick; it’s actually quite watery.  The only thing I can think to compare the scent to was the pith on the back side of an orange or lemon.  The Rosehip Oil was reddish and thicker than vegetable oil with a distinct odor of flax.  It is high in lingans just like flax so that made sense.  This odor does not dissipate so I would recommend it for use on the face only at night.  The Argan Oil is about the consistency of extra virgin olive oil with a smell that is a combination of capers and olives.  Truthfully, it was a little off-putting at first, but it absorbs quickly and the scent dissipates.

I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of results from these products.  After cleansing, morning and night, I used five drops of Vitamin C Serum on my face, neck and back of my neck as well.  The serum is said to have lightening benefits and I hoped it would help lighten some sun spots on my face and darkening on my neck.  They recommend Rosehip Oil for treatment of scars, UV damage and complete skin rejuvenation which I thought was a great compliment for the Vitamin C/Ferulic/Hyaluronic Acid serum.  Of course since the Argan oil is good for skin, hair and nails I combined both to use as a moisturizer.  The Rosehip oil is thicker and tends to sit on the skin whereas the Argan oil absorbs fairly quickly.  Like I mentioned before the Rosehips should probably only be used at night since it would make any foundation slide off your face and eye makeup smudge easily.

The first few times I used them together they worked just fine then a few days in I noticed that my entire face broke out in rash.  I was so disappointed.  I didn’t want to give up though.  So I stopped using the Rosehip oil first with no change.  Then the Argan Oil.  Since I had some acne developing in addition to the rash I didn’t want to stop using the C serum.  Then I realized that the first two days I had used an all natural organic facial cleanser and for some reason switched back to a common commercially available clay based foaming cleanser.  At the time I thought it would help reduce the natural oiliness of my face and dry up the acne.  As soon as I switched back to the organic cleanser I had no more problems with the C serum or either of the oils.  It took a few weeks but I began to notice a brightness in my countenance that I hadn’t seen before.  Also, many of the annoying black heads I had on my cheeks and nose were getting naturally pushed out.  My skin was feeling more fresh and less heavy than previously. Though I did add a little extra to the sun spot on my right cheek it didn’t disappear like I’d hoped, but it did lighten as did the rest of my face. Proof that the serum was taking care of oxidative stress as promised.

The Argan oil worked best on my hands and hair.  My nails had been peeling and weak and using the Argan oil on them daily helped them to grow quite a bit and stay strong.  Now if I can only find a nail polish formulation that doesn’t make my nails weak and brittle we’ll have a winning combination for growth and maintenance.

The Rosehips oil should be kept in the refrigerator.  It may be a good idea to keep all these oils in the fridge to keep them fresher longer.  No one wants to put rancid moisturizers on their face.  Plus, the coolness feels good :).

All three of these products, plus many other anti-aging skin care items from InstaNatural, are available on Amazon.
