As a bilingual mom of two young kids I’ve always wanted my children to speak at least two languages as I do. I admit living in a 100% English speaking world it hasn’t been easy to tech and reinforce the Spanish language.
Speekee.com is a Spanish teaching site geared specifically for kids from age 2 to 11. This fit my girls perfectly. The program that most interested me is the Fast Track for kids 2 to 7. It’s a 40 week structured curriculum complete with videos, craft projects, worksheets and flash cards. Parents have a guide for what to do with the little ones each week. At least 4 sessions a week are encouraged to keep on track with the 40 week timeframe. What I appreciate about the videos in this portion of the program is that they are short and dynamic. The level of repetition is not to the point of exhaustion. I came to the realization that some younger kids, like my youngest, get frustrated when a task or question repeats too often. The Spanish spoken is either by native speakers, mostly children, or fluent teachers. The tone is clear, deliberate, and friendly. Speekee.com employs the use of puppets, songs and games in the videos. This encourages continued attention, repetition and participation. The videos and take for older children focus more on learning advanced vocabulary and conversational Spanish.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
